Revelation of John 21:2-27

2 And I saw ^athe holy city, ^bnew Jerusalem, ^ccoming down out of heaven from God, ^dmade ready as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, ^ethe tabernacle of God is among men, and He will ^{▼▼ Or tabernacle
,} ^gdwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them ^{▼▼ One early ms reads, and be their God}, 4 and He will ⁱwipe away every tear from their eyes; and ^jthere will no longer be any death; ^kthere will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; ^lthe first things have passed away.”

5 And ^mHe who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am ⁿmaking all things new.” And He said, “Write, for ^othese words are faithful and true.” 6 Then He said to me, ^{▼▼ Lit They are
,} ^q“It is done. I am the ^rAlpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. ^sI will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the ^twater of life without cost. 7 ^u“He who overcomes will inherit these things, and ^vI will be his God and he will be My son. 8 ^w“But for the cowardly and ^{▼▼ Or untrustworthy}unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in ^ythe lake that burns with fire and ^{▼▼ I.e. burning sulphur}brimstone, which is the ^aasecond death.”

9 ^abThen one of the seven angels who had the ^acseven bowls ^{▼▼ Lit who were full}full of the ^aeseven last plagues came and spoke with me, saying, ^af“Come here, I will show you the ^agbride, the wife of the Lamb.”

The New Jerusalem

10 And ^ahhe carried me away ^{▼▼ Or in spirit
,} ^ajin the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me ^akthe holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, 11 having ^althe glory of God. Her ^{▼▼ Lit luminary}brilliance was like a very costly stone, as a ^anstone of ^aocrystal-clear jasper. 12 ^{▼▼ Lit having}It had a great and high wall, ^{▼▼ Lit having
,} ^arwith twelve ^asgates, and at the gates twelve angels; and names were written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel. 13 There were three gates on the east and three gates on the north and three gates on the south and three gates on the west. 14 And the wall of the city had ^attwelve foundation stones, and on them were the twelve names of the ^autwelve apostles of the Lamb.

15 The one who spoke with me had a ^{▼▼ Lit measure, a gold reed}gold measuring ^awrod to measure the city, and its ^axgates and its wall. 16 The city is laid out as a square, and its length is as great as the width; and he measured the city with the ^{▼▼ Lit reed}rod, ^{▼▼ Lit twelve thousand stadia; a stadion was approx 600 ft}fifteen hundred miles; its length and width and height are equal. 17 And he measured its wall, ^{▼▼ Lit one hundred forty-four cubits}seventy-two yards, according to ^bbhuman ^{▼▼ Lit measure}measurements, which are also ^bdangelic measurements. 18 The material of the wall was ^bejasper; and the city was ^bfpure gold, like ^{▼▼ Lit pure}clear ^bhglass. 19 ^biThe foundation stones of the city wall were adorned with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation stone was ^bjjasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, ^bkemerald; 20 the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, ^blsardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst. 21 And the twelve ^bmgates were twelve ^bnpearls; each one of the gates was a single pearl. And the street of the city was ^bopure gold, like transparent ^bpglass.

22 I saw ^bqno ^{▼▼ Or sanctuary}temple in it, for the ^bsLord God the Almighty and the ^btLamb are its ^{▼▼ Or sanctuary}temple. 23 And the city ^bvhas no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for ^bwthe glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the ^bxLamb. 24 ^byThe nations will walk by its light, and the ^bzkings of the earth ^{▼▼ Lit bring}will bring their glory into it. 25 In the daytime (for ^cbthere will be no night there) ^ccits gates ^cdwill never be closed; 26 and ^cethey will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it; 27 and ^cfnothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those ^{▼▼ Lit who have been}whose names are ^chwritten in the Lamb’s book of life.
